Samsung Electronics (Bangladesh R&D Center)

Role: Head of Mobile Software Lab as Senior Chief Engineer

March 2012 – July 2016 (4 years 5 months)

Led a department of over 150 R&D engineers to develop Android Platform. In 2012, established this department from hiring, org-structuring, KPI alignment, all the way to starting of SW development and Middle East and African (MEA) models commercialization. Signed up MoU (May, 2012) and established (June, 2012) Samsung Innovation lab at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and at CSE, Dhaka University. In 2013, delivered SW to over 40 million smartphones in MEA region. In 2014, led a graceful merger and restructuring of Mobile division and thus ensured scalability across mobile SW platforms. As a member of Leadership Team, I contributed in multiple cross functional boards: (1) Mid-long term strategy, (2) patent review and selection, (3) Intellectual property review, (4) financial investment review, (5) Yearly budget and review, (6) Internal and external training policy, (7) Samsung BD mobile sales review, (8) Yearly project evaluation and (9) Employees’ project incentive (PI) review.

Role: Head of Advanced R & D Group as Development Lead

June 2011 – February 2012 (9 months)

Led a department of over 50 engineers with a portfolio of more than 6 simultaneous prototype development and optimization projects. Projects on OS porting, codec development and optimizations, WebP image and WebM video processing on Exynos processors, middleware development. Set up Open Innovation Outreach programs towards local universities including BUET, DU, and Islamic University of Technology (IUT) to synergize research on Digital Media and Communications.

Robi Axiata Limited

Role: Manager, IP Network Operation

March 2010 – May 2011 (1 year 4 months)

For over 10 years Robi suffered intermittent revenue leakage due to faulty communication on a mission critical IP network. After 29 days of plan / analysis, we solved the problem costing no revenue loss and only 4 minutes of down time. Received outstanding performance award. In this role, I led a team of 11 engineers, supervised end-to-end IP network operation which included IP Backbone, ISP, GSM-DCN. Managed of O & M and troubleshooting and disaster recovery. Supported integrations and interconnections. In addition, I managed vendors: Huawei, Ericsson, and Alcatel-Lucent.

Axiata Bangladesh Limited

Role: Deputy Manager, Core Network Operation

June 2008 – March 2010 (1 year 10 months)

Key Activities: (a) Manage International Roaming Engineering Group (IREG) and IGW-operation. (b) Managing Mobile Packet Backbone Network (MPBN) operation. Achieving Network KPI on IP backbone network run on Huawei NE40/80 routers, leading team, providing technical consultation, organizing meetings and coordinating other departments and directing MPBN team’s project work and producing final deliverables and their quality. Work environment with Huawei MSoftX3000, UMG8900 and NE40/80 routers. SS7 Signaling and CAMEL knowledge used.

Role: Senior Engineer, OSS

September 2006 – May 2008 (1 year 9 months)

Key Performance Indicators: (a) New Project Integration, (b) supervising Automation of Regular Processes, (c) Troubleshooting on single and multi-platform system interfaces, (d) supervising Element Management System (EMS) Administration, Backup and up gradation (e) supervising Data Network for the EMS. Worked with NetExpert™ development and integration to multi-vendor environment, Ericsson’s OSS RC, Huawei’s M2000 and N2000 systems. OS usage: Solaris 8,9,10, Database: Oracle 9i. Established Regular health check and backup process for EMS systems, established Confluence Wiki for building Knowledgebase, published SOP and templates for the department, organized trainings.

Level 3 Communications

Role: Intern at IP MPLS Backbone team

June 2004 – September 2004 (4 months)

Completed the Project for Automated map Generation (PAG) for MPLS Backbone and Core networks in North America and Europe. Used PERL on UNIX and VB on the Windows platform. In addition, upgraded and configured Cisco and Juniper Router Cards and WTI modems. Reference: level3carrier.com
